Based on the William Gibson novel, a classic of the cyberpunk genre. -- Here displayed is Millia Jovovich as one of the most iconic characters in Neuromancer as well as the Sprawl trilogy in my opinion: the mirror-eyed, razor nailed street samurai Molly Millions. -- A fake movie trailer I made: [link] -- There is a real Neuromancer movie slated for upcoming production, directed by music video director Chris Cunningham. -- For those who don't know, Neuromancer is a dark science fiction story, one of the classics, about a hacker named Henry Chase. Chase was a corporate saboteur who used the fully interactive internet of the future called The Matrix (yes, the original Matrix!) to steal from other corporations, until his employers discovered he was embezzling from them. As punishment they burned out the part of his nervous system that allowed him to 'jack in' and left him without work. But then a bio-mod with mirrored eyes and a mysterious broker named Amitage give him an offer he can't refuse: a fix for his system so he can hack again if he agrees to use his recovered ability to hack into one of the most powerful corporations in the world. He agrees, but probably didn't suspect that decision would see him double crossed and discovering the truth behind government and military secrets, conversing a new kind of artificial intelligence, and running for his life from hitmen, security guards and ninjas! If your fond of science fiction, film noir, the movie Blade Runner, or just a good heist story give it a look see
I hope the new movie does this seminal work justice
You are wrong it is done by Vincenzo Natali (director of Splice and Cypher), Chris Cunningham was the first choice of Gibson but he is also comfortable with Natali doing it after looking his films. Hope they don't screw it - the Neuromancer triology was the foundation of everything in this genre, Matrix wouldnt be there without it.
Another movie they HAVE TO DO is "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson.
But even if they get good I hate the moment walk out of the cinema and some wanna-be-expert says "oh this and that they all stole it from Matrix"..
the art is great - its just not corresponding to my metal picture of Molly/Sally. starting with the razor nails - read the book again - they come out from underneath her burgundy fingernails and are not steam-punk visible mechanisms. Nothing in Gibson's description of Molly would lead one to think of her as a waif as you're depicted. The pertinacious influence of anime/manga influenced feminine stereotypes corrupts the concept outside the author's intended vision.
I know I honestly just liked the image I took a lot of liberties. I agree, not the best, but it did seem to interest people in a story not a lot of them knew well
I just watched your fake trailer and commented on it (I'm IcePirate3 on You Tube). Like i said there, it's the best fake Neuromancer trailer I've seen by far. Love it.
I also love this poster. It's one hell of a lot better than the crap I threw together for mine, anyway. Milla Jovovich was born to play Molly, as many people agree.
Thanks a lot! I'm very glad to meet another William Gibson fan ^_^ I didn't think your poster was bad at all. Much more comprehensive then just Molly there XD
